EXCHANGE PROBLEMS

by PALOMA PLAZA

There are some things that can go wrong when you are in an exchange programme. For example if you go to a country where the culture is different you can encounter problems so you have to be very careful. I mean that if you go to places where they have religious bans on alcohol you mustn’t do it or you can go to prison.

Also other problems can be in the airport if you lose your suitcase there, you would have a bad week because you have to buy new clothes.

Another thing which can go wrong is going alone to a small village and not knowing how to arrive there although you had maps.

In conclusion there are a lot of situations where you can be in trouble, so always be prepared.

That’s one of the best advice you’re going to get. Thanks everybody for such a great job. And now it’s time for what you’ve been eagerly awaiting. The Photos.

LYBIA EXCHANGE DISASTER

by Alberto Barrado Viciente

My friend Julian went to Lybia last summer in an Exchange course.

Before the trip he thought that it would be a good experience and he would make a lot of friends. But, when he met the family who he had to live with, he realized that things would be very different. He had to live with a Taliban family!

He only stayed in Lybia for two weeks but it was a real adventure. The worst part was that he lost his leg because a bomb exploded near him. He told me that it was the worst experience in his life.

In my opinion languages exchange can be dangerous if you don´t go to the right area.

Indeed! That was a terrible thing to happen. What would you do if something like that happened to you or a friend of yours?

And tomorrow is the last installment of this incredible account of experiences. Want to guess who’s left?

Be adventurous. Be inquisitive.

Good experiences

by Alvaro Cabello

My friend Miguel went last summer to "Obama exchange" and he had a good experience because he got a computer the first day and he could create laws in Obama's office like increase the production of weapons in the USA. He met different people from all parts on the world. He met Angela Merkel’s child and they thought of new things to present to the European Union. He also met Brad Pitt’s child and he offered a new movie idea for the next film his father does. Miguel had a good time in USA and this year he is going to repeat the experience. He highly recommends it.

No wonder if he could meet such celebrities Winking smile

Tomorrow stay tuned for Alberto’s unique ideas.

Be bold. Be outlandish.

Deciding Where To Go

by Jesus Agüí Fuentes

Hi, I’m Jesús and I´m here with my friend Carlos, who´s going to talk about the best destinations to go for an exchange.

-Carlos: Hi, I´m Carlos. I will focus on England because I think most Spanish people who are learning a foreign language, are learning English.

In England there are two top places to go, London and Liverpool. Here whilst learning English you can visit two of the most famous cities in the world. The disadvantage, of course, is the price, because staying two or three weeks in those cities might be expensive.

The alternative is the little seaside villages. They are not as famous as the cities, but they are really cheaper, and you can do day trips to the big cities.

Mmm, a difficult choice but interesting to make. Thanks a lot, both of you!

We are halfway through the guest list, my friends. Don’t despair, though. At the end, you will get to see a photo of the culprits Winking smile.

Be curious. Be chatty.

The activities that we can do in a language exchange

by Leticia Barroso

If you go to a language exchange, obviously you will have language classes and you must learn more of this language. But not all people will study! Also, we do a lot of fun and interesting activities such as trips and typical sports of that place.

We are going to go on a trip and we are going to see many beautiful places and a lot of monuments. Of course, the places that we will visit are going to be explained in the language that we are learning.

Other activities that we are going to do will be... shopping on the main shops of the cities and at night we can dance in the disco!!!!!

Come to a language exchange and you won’t regret it!!! =)

Many thanks to Leticia and her enthusiasm about the subject. You have me convinced.

And we’ll be back on Monday with more interesting snippets from our very blogging students. Who will be next? Ah, mistery.

Have a creative weekend!

Let’s blog together: Step 1

I_love_blogging1

Blogging is an art. It can also be just pure nonsense. Either way, if we just put enough sense into it, blogging is a powerful tool to communicate your ideas with the whole wide world.

Today we start a new era on this blog. We are going to share the “thinking space” with Shelly’s B2 group. Her students have written their view on the topic of Exchange Programmes, which will be seeing the light by the rate of one opinion per day. Are you ready to read, debate and get excited? Let’s blog, folks!

How can you learn a language more easily?

by Alba de Dios Palomares

When you arrive in a different country, there is a place  where you want to learn, for example, the English language. You need to be sociable with people, and try to talk quickly, and you have to be sure about something that you are saying. When you have free time you can go looking up information and vocabulary on the language that you are learning and you should study that information and with that you know more about the culture of that country.

This would be good to improve your language skills in an exchange, for example, English.

I recommend you do this, good luck.

So Alba is all about socializing and gathering as much information as possible. Good advice indeed. Stay tuned for tomorrow we have a new guest: Leticia!
