Every year we offer the TRINITY EXAMS to all our students interested in challenging their oral skills in English. This is all you need to know to start thinking about taking this very dynamic and useful exam.

CONVOCATORIA JUNIO 2012

En LCT IDIOMAS, preparamos a nuestros estudiantes para los exámenes internacionales de CAMBRIDGE (FCE, CAE, PROFICIENCY) y también para los de TRINITY, de cuyos títulos somos centro examinador. Nuestra escuela presenta a los alumnos que lo desean desde 1993 con más de un 90% de aprobados. Ahora estamos en período de matrícula para los exámenes TRINITY, cuya información os ofrecemos a continuación.

Quién puede presentarse

Todos nuestros alumnos, desde 7 años cumplidos y hasta adultos, y sea cual sea su nivel, pueden presentarse a alguno de los GRADOS de TRINITY, ya que estas titulaciones certifican desde los niveles elementales (A1) hasta los avanzados (C2).

En LCT IDIOMAS haremos una valoración y propuesta de grado para cada estudiante interesado en presentarse. Por favor, los interesados, debéis poneros en contacto con nosotros lo antes posible. La matricula se cierra el 30 de Marzo.

Los exámenes

Consisten en una entrevista individual y oral con el examinador de TRINITY, que se desplaza hasta nuestro centro para realizar las pruebas. Los exámenes son en JUNIO. La fecha definitiva se confirmará a finales de Mayo, tenemos solicitada la semana del 11 al 15 de Junio.

** esta correspondencia es aproximada ya que hacemos una propuesta personalizada para cada alumno que se matricula en los exámenes TRINITY en la que tenemos en cuenta, además de los contenidos de cada nivel, si el alumno se ha presentado anteriormente a este tipo de exámenes.

Esperamos vuestras solicitudes y os animamos a presentaros a exámenes internacionales que además de ”certificar” vuestro nivel de inglés proporcionan una experiencia importante en vuestro desarrollo académico y profesional.

EVERYBODY HAS GOT ONE

Sometimes you feel drawn to a particular place for no reason. It could be in your city or at home. It could be found in a secluded spot in a park. Atop a skyscraper, in a cozy café, walking down Gran Vía, in the darkness of a theater, next to a chimney while sipping a hot cup of chocolate. It could even be in your memory only reachable with a thought, not by going there any more.

Wherever it is, whatever it is, everybody has got that one place that makes you feel safe, happy, renewed.

WHAT IS LOVE?

 

Today is the day. It comes in colours: red, bright pink, white. It comes with faces: your couple, your friend, your mum, you brother... It comes with plans: for dinner, for a day out, for kisses and chocolate, for special things to share.

FACTS AND FIGURES

• The ancient Romans celebrated the Feast of Lupercalia on February 14th in honor of Juno, the queen of the Roman gods and goddesses. Juno was also the goddess of women and marriage.
• In the Middle Ages, young men and women drew names from a bowl to see who would be their Valentine. They would wear this name pinned onto their sleeves for one week for everyone to see. This was the origin of the expression "to wear your heart on your sleeve."
• In 1537, England's King Henry VII officially declared February 14th the holiday of St. Valentine's Day.
• 1,241: The number of locations producing chocolate and cocoa products in the USA
• The per capita consumption of candy by Americans in 2005 was 25.7 pounds
• The combined wholesale value of domestically produced cut roses in 2005 for all operations with $100,000 or more in sales was $39 million. Among all types of cut flowers, roses were third in receipts ($39 million)to lilies ($76.9 million) and tulips ($39.1 million).
• Research reveals that more than half of the U.S. population celebrates Valentine's Day by purchasing a greeting card.

CHOCOLATE

• Casanova, well known as "The World's Greatest Lover," ate chocolate to make him virile.
• Richard Cadbury produced the first box of chocolates for Valentine's Day in the late 1800's.
• More than 35 million heart-shaped boxes of chocolate will be sold for Valentine's Day.

FLOWERS

• 73% of people who buy flowers for Valentine's Day are men, while only 27 percent are women.
• The red rose was the favorite flower of Venus, the Roman goddess of love.
• Red roses are considered the flower of love because the color red stands for strong romantic feelings.
• Approximately 110 million roses, mostly red, will be sold and delivered within the three-day Valentine's Day time period.

FUN FACTS

• The most fantastic gift of love is the Taj Mahal in India. It was built by Mughal Emperor Shahjahan as a memorial to his wife.
• Every Valentine's Day, the Italian city of Verona, where Shakespeare's lovers Romeo and Juliet lived, receives about 1,000 letters addressed to Juliet.
• About 3% of pet owners will give Valentine's Day gifts to their pets.

Love and friendship: kings for a day

They say love is boundless, limitless and plain great ;o). You can never run out of it. If you pay attention, it’s always around you. It cannot be touched but it can be found within you.

If you cherish it, it will grow. If you neglect it, it will melt away and forget it ever existed. Who to love? It may not be a question of choice, but it’s always a question of will. Parents, siblings, relatives, friends, husbands, wives, pets…

What will you be doing on Saint Valentine’s Day?

THEY ALL ACED IT. FCE SUCCESS.

This year we are ready for a celebration. Not only did all our students pass this very difficult exam, but they all did more than great. The First Certificate of English is an all-inclusive exam that tackles grammar, use of English, listening tasks as well as a writing and a thorough oral part.

There have been a success rate of 100 %. All students who took this exam in December 2011 passed while 36% got a very hard-earned A in their final results. More than 18% got a B and the rest had a C.

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU ALL. You deserve a rest and a toast to your dedication. Cheers!

 

BOOK PARTY!

Did you ever wonder what that stranger sitting next to you on the subway is reading? What about your neighbour? Or that handsome guy in your classroom? You’re in luck today because I have a penchant for digging out secrets from people. I ‘ve been nagging everyone in sight to find out what their choice of reading is for this season.

SO… ARE YOU READY?

Being the avid readers they all are, our teachers have been more than happy to share their book of the moment. Curious?

Redhead Shelly is reading Beautiful by Katie Piper, which tells the harrowing experience of an acid-victim. She’s also reading What Buddists Believe. I bet that is enlightening! Sheryl is coming into contact with the Empire of the Sun through one of its most popular authors, Haryki Murakami and the book is IQ84. These girls can’t stand still so Sheryl is also reading another book, Silk by Alessandro Baricco.

Our dark-haired Justin is deep in myth in Aesop’s Fables, while Tana is all ears about For whom the Bell Tolls. Everybody has heard about The Help, so Lisa is finding out for herself. Whereas Alecia is trying to why The spirit catches you and you fall down.

Let’s not forget Anna’s fantastic choice of The Name of the Wind, ant its thick sequel The Wise Man’s Fear by Patrick Rothfuss. Right now, Angie is toying with The Gift, and Chris is not only playing with fire, but with other two books as well: The Secret, The Power of Now, and The Girl who Played with Fire. On the other hand, who would have thought that big buddy Brian had fallen under the spell of Legend of the Fall?

Neia is sewing her way through El tiempo entre costuras. Due to her amount of 1-t-1 classes and her need to be up to date, Gloria must be always ahead on current affairs. On the other hand, Teresa is on feline terms with Riña de gatos, and Marisa is getting to know Gente Tóxica.
